Backstory

The Story of Archon of Echoes

The Archon of Echoes has no childhood.

It was assembled from repetition.

For centuries, Lumenveil ritualists performed factional invocations in the Hall of Resonant Names. Each ceremony left a faint imprint in the architecture. Eventually those imprints began answering one another.

The Archon emerged as a figure made from accumulated gestures, voices and half-remembered light.

It does not invent new faction synergy. Echo Archon repeats the previous Champion’s resonance condition if that condition still makes sense. The effect cannot stack without limit because an echo grows less truthful each time it repeats.

As a Guardian, the Archon protects continuity itself. When rituals, lineages or traditions are interrupted, it restores the last valid pattern long enough for others to continue.

Lumenveil scholars disagree over whether it is one intelligence or a parliament of residual personalities. The Archon occasionally answers questions in several voices at once, which has not helped.

The Convergence affected it immediately. Foreign faction resonances entered the Hall and produced new echoes.

One voice now speaks from within the Archon in a language no Lumenveil ritual has ever used.

The Archon appears to understand it.
