The Story of Crown of Andromeda
The Crown of Andromeda is older than its current wearer.
Possibly much older.
Celestium recovered the living diadem from a derelict command station beyond the recognised edge of its navigation charts. The Crown bonds to one Guardian at a time, extending filaments into armour and nervous tissue while leaving personality intact.
It thrives on novelty.
When the opposing faction differs from the previous opponent, the Crown receives a new strategic pattern and becomes more effective, granting additional score. Repetition bores it—or, more scientifically, provides less new information.
The current bearer was selected after twelve candidates failed bonding. They describe the Crown not as a voice but as “the sensation of remembering a solution before understanding the problem.”
Celestium commanders value the artefact and fear it in equal measure.
The name Andromeda came from a star pattern embedded in its inner surface. That constellation does not match the sky above any mapped Shard.
During the Convergence, the pattern began changing one point at a time.
The bearer has started copying every change by hand.
