The Story of The Last Astronomer
The Last Astronomer guards an observatory pointed at a civilisation that no longer appears in the sky.
Celestium records prove the world existed. Trade logs, spectral measurements and decades of conversation remain archived. Then one night every telescope showed empty space where the system should have been.
Only one instrument still sees it.
The Astronomer has refused to leave that telescope unattended for twenty-three years.
Last Light reflects the obsession. At six Victory Points—one step from winning—the Astronomer gains Mind and Spirit rather than direct VP. No shortcut. No automatic ending. The final observation must still be earned.
Power is low because the Champion is a scholar first, Guardian second and fighter only because the Convergence made those roles impossible to separate.
The Exotic reputation comes from what the telescope now shows. The vanished world is still there, but its stars move according to a sky no Celestium model recognises.
Sometimes silhouettes pass in front of the lens.
After the Convergence began, one silhouette raised a hand toward the observer.
The Last Astronomer has not told anyone whether they waved back.
