The Story of Bramm Stonefist
Bramm Stonefist was never meant to become a celebrated fighter. In Ironhold, he belonged to the Breachwrights — combat engineers trained to go where walls had failed, gates had buckled, and ordinary soldiers could no longer hold the line.
His name comes from the enormous shard-forged gauntlet fitted to his right arm. The original was crushed beneath a falling gate during the Siege of Cinderwatch. Ironhold surgeons saved his arm, but the damage left his hand almost useless. Rather than retire, Bramm worked with the forge-clans to build a reinforced iron-and-stone gauntlet around it. What began as a tool for lifting debris became a weapon capable of breaking armour, masonry, and occasionally both at once.
Bramm developed a reputation for arriving at battles when they were already close to lost. That is where he is most comfortable. He has little patience for ceremonial boasts or plans that depend on everything going correctly. Bramm believes a warrior's real measure is revealed only after the plan has failed, allies are exhausted, and retreat starts looking sensible.
During the Fall of Ashgate, Bramm and eleven Breachwrights held a collapsed furnace corridor against an enemy force several times their size. By dawn only three defenders remained, but the gate behind them had never opened. Ironhold records list the action as a strategic victory. Bramm describes it simply as “a bad night that could have been worse.”
When the Convergence opened paths into other Shards, Bramm volunteered almost immediately. Strange worlds did not frighten him. In his experience, every battlefield eventually becomes the same problem: something important is behind you, something dangerous is in front of you, and somebody has to decide they are not moving.
His affinity with Might comes not from aggression but persistence. Bramm hits hard, but his defining strength is the stubbornness to continue fighting when momentum belongs to the opponent. Among Ironhold soldiers, there is a saying associated with him: “If Stonefist is still standing, the battle isn't finished.”
