Backstory

The Story of Orris Dreamwalker

Orris was once declared missing while sitting in the same chair for six hours.

His body never left Lumenveil, but every sleeper in three nearby villages dreamed of meeting him on a silver road.

Dreamwalking became his discipline. Orris learned that distance inside shared dreams behaves according to relevance rather than metres. Two people thinking of the same place may stand adjacent even if their waking bodies are worlds apart.

Dream Step is a tiny application of that rule. Orris is not physically fast. In a close contest, however, he can briefly take the route a dream would consider shorter, treating Speed as higher only for tie resolution.

His Beast classification reflects the form he wears while travelling: a long-limbed luminous creature with a mask-like face and too many joints. Orris insists the shape is merely convenient. Nobody has managed to explain why every witness describes it identically.

He joined the Convergence because sleeping people began dreaming of Arenas before Threads opened to them.

Orris believes the Weave may be dreaming first and becoming physical later.

Lumenveil academics hate the theory because it is difficult to test and even harder to dismiss.
