The Story of Rune Stag
The Rune Stag was old before Verdant Reach learned to name the grove where it appears.
Its antlers carry luminous symbols that resemble Lumenveil script, though no known rune order claims them and several marks predate modern Lumenveil notation by centuries.
Wild creatures do not fear the Stag. They follow it.
When a Wild-aligned opponent faces the creature, the runes brighten and memories seem to move through the surrounding forest. The Stag becomes more alert, more spiritually present and strangely more analytical, gaining both Spirit and Mind.
Verdant elders believe the marks record old agreements between the forest and travellers from another Shard. Lumenveil scholars insist the geometry is impossible for a natural antler to grow.
Both groups have spent years arguing beside the same animal while it eats leaves.
The Rune Stag’s Specialist role comes from being neither ordinary beast nor conventional mage. It appears at damaged boundaries, watches silently, then leaves by routes trackers cannot follow.
After the Convergence, it began appearing near Threads hours before they opened.
Nobody recruited it to the Arenas.
It simply arrived.
