Backstory

The Story of Tidecaller Namiir

Namiir can tell what a storm will do by tasting the rain.

On the Tempest Isles, Tidecallers are part navigator, part weather-priest and part emergency engineer. Namiir grew up aboard low-flying reef skiffs where one bad current could throw a vessel into stone.

They learned to read wind, pressure and water as one moving system.

That training makes Arena hazards affecting Speed unusually ineffective. Namiir notices the change before it fully develops, adjusts route and rhythm, and turns successful prediction into additional Spirit. Tidecall is confidence earned by being right about danger.

The Unique reputation came during the Glass Typhoon, when every official forecast predicted an eastern turn. Namiir ordered the fleet west. Captains nearly mutinied until the storm split around an invisible dimensional pressure front nobody else had detected.

Years later, that phenomenon was recognised as an early Convergence disturbance.

Namiir now travels through Threads looking for weather that should not exist. They keep samples in sealed crystal bottles.

One bottle contains rain from a cloudless sky and has never stopped falling internally.
