The Story of Elias Vane, Moonbound

Elias Vane spent half his life studying curses and the other half becoming one.

Before the Moonbound affliction, he was a Nocturne archivist specialising in inherited supernatural conditions. He approached vampirism, revenancy and shapeshifting like legal problems: identify the rule, find the exception, document the cost.

Then an expedition to the Moonlit Moor left him bitten by something nobody could classify.

Elias retained his mind, but defeat became the trigger. When pushed past the point where disciplined control failed, the curse transformed him into a larger, faster lunar beast. The change improved Power and Speed while shredding much of the careful reasoning he valued most.

He designed his own containment regimen and insisted the transformed form still be treated as himself, not as an animal wearing his body.

Moonbound Shift reflects that ugly compromise. A loss sends Elias away, but not out. He returns later changed, dangerous and less rational.

The Convergence gives him access to curses from worlds Nocturne never knew existed. Elias travels partly as Champion, partly as researcher and partly because he hopes some Shard has already solved the problem consuming him.

He keeps one notebook for every transformation.

The handwriting gets worse each time.
