Ashen Widow spins webs from the remains of burned promises.

That is what Nocturne folklore says, anyway.

The measurable truth is stranger enough. Her cinder silk is produced by an alchemical gland grafted during an old widow-cult initiation, and each strand reacts to sudden acceleration by tightening across the shortest route.

Ashen Widow does not need to catch an opponent completely. She only needs to deny the extra speed they hoped to gain.

Her Web therefore caps positive Speed bonuses rather than lowering base movement. Fast Champions remain fast. Attempts to become dramatically faster meet invisible resistance.

She spent years as a rooftop executioner for a noble house before disappearing after a target turned out to be innocent. Months later the noble was found cocooned alive inside his own chapel, surrounded by documents proving the orders he had falsified.

Nobody has officially linked the incidents.

Ashen Widow now chooses contracts herself and distrusts anyone who uses the word “necessary” too easily.

A Convergence Thread once opened through one of her prepared webs. Every strand pulled toward it at once.

She followed because the silk had never lied about movement before.
