The Story of Queen Below
The Queen Below inherited a kingdom with no sky and no patience for surface law.
Her Underkingdom dynasty predates several mapped nations. Royal authority there is not ornamental; old decrees are etched into roadstone, water rights and even the warding geometry of palace halls.
Once per match, the Queen can invoke the oldest competitive law in her realm: no borrowed prestige, no ceremonial advantage, no external favour. Both sides lose score bonuses and the Arena’s base contest decides the matter.
Royal Decree is feared because it does not strengthen the Queen directly. It removes everyone’s excuses.
She is fast enough to exploit the resulting simplicity, clever enough to choose the right moment and spiritually colder than the legends suggest.
The Exotic reputation began when she ended a civil war without a battle by forcing seven rival lords to settle their claims under the same stripped-down law. Six left alive. One cheated.
Nobody cheats Underkingdom law twice.
The Convergence troubles the Queen because Threads ignore borders older than history.
She participates in the Arenas partly to study foreign champions and partly to establish a legal precedent:
If the Weave enters her kingdom, it will do so under terms.
