The Story of Stormjaw Croc
Stormjaw Croc nests where Verdant Reach’s great flood rivers meet the lightning plains.
Its skull carries old conductive scars from strikes that would kill smaller animals. During monsoon season, static builds along the jaw ridges until every bite flashes blue-white.
Stormjaw hunts by patience rather than speed. It waits for powerful ground conditions and slow prey, then turns the first grip into a death roll violent enough to erase the distinction between riverbank and river.
That becomes its Arena rule. When Power is primary and the opponent’s Speed is low, Stormjaw gains the scoring edge because escape from the initial hold becomes unlikely.
The Scout label comes from a behaviour Verdant trackers discovered by accident: Stormjaw moves upstream days before major flood changes. Following the crocodilian can reveal which channels will remain passable.
Nobody describes following it as comfortable.
During the first Convergence season, Stormjaw abandoned its traditional river for a Thread-fed tributary carrying water from another Shard.
The creature returned weeks later with unfamiliar shell fragments embedded in its hide and a second row of lightning scars.
Trackers have decided not to ask where it went.
