The Story of Ironbark Ape
Ironbark Ape learned machinery by destroying it.
A Brass Meridian logging consortium once entered Verdant Reach with autonomous cutters designed to ignore local wildlife. The first machine lost a manipulator arm. The second lost its power conduit. By the time the third shut down, something in the canopy had clearly learned which parts mattered.
That something was Ironbark.
The ape’s dense forearm growth resembles dark wood reinforced with mineral fibre, giving it enough Power to tear open machine housings. Against Tech opponents, experience adds more than rage. Ironbark knows where metal flexes, where cables expose themselves and how machines telegraph decisions.
That knowledge increases both Power and Spirit.
The Scout classification fits because Ironbark spent years shadowing industrial crews before attacking, learning routes and routines from above.
After the consortium withdrew, Verdant communities found neat piles of salvaged machine parts placed at trail junctions.
The Ape had apparently decided some pieces were useful.
Through the Convergence, Ironbark has encountered Tech that repairs itself, Tech made of light and Tech that appears alive.
The piles at the trail junctions are becoming much more interesting.
