The manoeuvre is dangerous because a weak sense of self can return in the wrong orientation—or not at all.

The Corsair’s low Spirit normally makes that risk obvious, which is exactly why the swap can become so dramatic. For one instant, the quality usually spent on velocity becomes the thing holding identity together.

Voidwake crews tell a story that the Corsair once stepped through an enemy blade and emerged behind the attacker three seconds before entering.

The Corsair denies this because “three seconds is showing off.”
